Recipes

Write or import recipes, add pictures and tags, and put them on shopping lists.

What a recipe holds

A recipe has a name and ingredients for a number of servings. A picture, tags, instructions and a link to its source are up to you.

Your family sees and edits your recipes, and you theirs.

Write a recipe

  1. Open “Recipes” and press “Add Recipe”.
  2. Enter the “Recipe Name” – at least 10 characters, like “Spaghetti Bolognese”.
  3. Set “Base Qty” to the number of servings the amounts are for.
  4. Add each ingredient with “Add Ingredient” (see below).
  5. Add a picture, tags and “Instructions” if you like, and press “Save”.
Good to know
  • Found the recipe on a website? Paste its address into “Recipe Source” and let Greezy fill in the rest (see “Import from a link”).
  • Standard accounts keep up to 25 recipes of their own.

Ingredients and units

Each ingredient has what to buy, an amount and a unit. Keep it to the product – “Onions”, not “2 onions, diced” – so the same ingredient adds up on your lists.

  • g and ml: grams and millilitres
  • pc: pieces, like 2 onions
  • pk: packs, like 1 pack of yeast
  • tbsp and tsp: tablespoons and teaspoons
  • cup, bunch and pinch: cups, bunches and pinches
  • fixing: room for a side dish, not something to buy (see the guide on side dishes)
Good to know
  • Tick “Optional” for what you usually have at home, like salt or oil. Your lists show it as optional.

Servings

“Base Qty” is the number of servings the amounts are written for. When you plan or shop a recipe, you say how many servings you cook, and Greezy does the math: a recipe for 2, cooked for 4, doubles every amount.

Tags

Tags sort your recipes, like “Vegetarian”, “Quick” or “Christmas”. In “Tags”, pick one you used before or type a new one.

In the list of recipes, tap a tag to see only its recipes; tap it again to see all.

Good to know
  • Side dish recipes carry the name of the placeholder they fill as a tag, like “Rice” (see the guide on side dishes).

A picture

  1. In the recipe, press “Add a picture”, or drop a photo onto the field.
  2. Press “Save” to keep it.
Good to know
  • Imports bring the source's picture along.
  • Share links, and the copies saved from them, come without the picture.

Find recipes

Type at least three letters into “Search”, or pick tags in “Tags”, to narrow down the list.

Side dish recipes are hidden; tick “Show Fixings” to see them too.

Change or delete a recipe

Tap a recipe to open it, change what you like and press “Save”.

To delete it, press “Delete” at the bottom of its page, or the red bin next to it in the list. On a phone, swipe the recipe to the left to see the bin.

Good to know
  • Shared the recipe by link? Your changes show there too.

Put a recipe on a shopping list

  1. Open the recipe and unfold “Add to a list or shop” below it.
  2. Pick a list in “Choose Shopping List”, or “--- CREATE NEW LIST ---”.
  3. Set the servings you cook in “Recipe Qty”, and pick side dishes if it has room for them.
  4. Press the + button.
Good to know
  • In a hurry? “Shop now” puts the recipe on a temporary list you can order from right away.

Cook a recipe

  1. Open the recipe and press “Cook”.
  2. Set the servings you cook in “Servings”. Every amount follows.
  3. Tick the ingredients as you get them ready, and follow the instructions.
Good to know
  • The screen stays on while the page is open and “Keep screen on” is on, if your browser allows it.
  • Has the recipe room for side dishes? Pick one for each placeholder: its ingredients come along, scaled to your servings, and its instructions follow the recipe's.
  • What you ticked stays until you close the tab. “Start over” clears it.
